Victim Fights Off Kidnapping Attempt in Pasadena; Search Underway

Pasadena police said Saturday they were searching for a man who attempted to kidnap a female victim who was able to fight off the physical assault.

The victim was walking near East Penn Street and Marengo Avenue (map) around 10 p.m. Friday when the man drove alongside her and tried to engage her in conversation, the Pasadena Police Department stated in a news release.

The victim ignored his attempts, and he exited the car and physically forced her into the front passenger seat.

After he re-entered the car, she struck him once in the face and groin and escaped.

The man then drove northbound.

He was described as a bald, clean-shaven African-American man in his late 30s, with a medium complexion. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

He was driving a gray, newer-model Honda CRV, or similar type, the news release stated.
