Man Attempts to Rape Woman Outside Boyle Heights Bar: Police

Police are searching for a man who attempted to rape a woman while armed with a knife outside a Boyle Heights bar early Saturday morning, LAPD officials said.

The 35-year-old woman was leaving the Eastside Luv bar at 1835 East First Street (map) and walking to her vehicle around 3:30 a.m. when the incident occurred, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Michael Morisseau said.

The man attempted to rape the woman and produced a knife, Morisseau said.

The woman fought off the man, and possibly bit him.

He fled the scene and police think he was injured, Morisseau said. The victim was not injured.

The man was described as a Hispanic man between 20 and 25 years old, standing about 5 foot 4 inches tall, Morisseau said.
