San Jose Police Officer Fatally Shot While Responding to Call

A veteran San Jose police officer was shot and killed Tuesday night while responding to a call, according to the San Jose Police Department.

The initial call came in around 7 p.m. in the area around Senter and Umbarger roads, according to the San Jose-Mercury News.

The shooting triggered a massive police response, aerial video from the scene showed.

It was believed the shooter may be armed with a high-powered rifle, the newspaper reported.
