Auto Theft Suspect Arrested After Crashing into South El Monte Liquor Store

Deputies were able to locate an auto theft suspect who managed to escape after crashing his truck into a liquor store in South El Monte.

Around 4:10 p.m., deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department identified an auto theft suspect near the intersection of Garvey and Seaman Avenues.

During an attempt to detain the suspect, he somehow got away, according to Sgt. Ed MacKenzie with the Sheriff’s Temple Station.

The man later crashed his truck into a nearby building and ran off, MacKenzie said.

Deputies set up a perimeter and were able to locate the man, according to a tweet from the the LASD Temple Station.
